Charles Roy painted hundreds of pictures of scenes throughout the Carolina's, Virginia and Tennessee. He loved the Smokie Mountains and captures that mountain feel with this scene of an old cabiin.
Charles Roy Smith was born in February 1922 in Wadesboro, North Carolina. Early in his life, he recognized his talent and love for art and determined he would make it his future. With the help of a teacher who helped finance his art lessons, he began the study which has helped him become a fine-expressive artist. Through pains-taking, time-consuming work, he has created memorable paintings.
Smith has often been compared to Monet. He compared art to music. He felt that they are akin, only communication in a different form. He remarked, "The world is looking for this communication. A painting that does not have to be explained, but simply portrays a beautiful feeling to which people can relate is communication.
He was a man with strong ties to family and God. With every painting, he sought to evoke the very reason he chose to paint a particular subject.
Charles Roy's paintings demonstrated his love of history and natural beauty. He painted scenes throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
Charles Roy passed away in September, 2002. There are several original paintings available and many limited edition prints.
